Volunteer Relief Aid Work with Refugees in Greece One of the ongoing projects which FES supports is the work of Luz Carmona (Barcelona, Spain) who has been working with refugees in Greece. She has effectively and selflessly been serving there for some years now providing flower essence therapy along with her other project, Light Without Borders , that provides eyeglasses to those in need. Here is a link to an earlier FES report regarding Luz’ work with refugees in Greece.
In her latest report, Luz wrote:
We are reaching a critical situation here at the camp since the massive arrival of refugees in the last 3 months. In July, 7000 refugees were living under very difficult and terrible conditions at the camp. Now in October, we have reached 14,000! Recently, there was a fire that killed a mother and two children, burned 8 ISO containers and created a big riot between police and refugees. I was there after the emergency call of one minor (we have over 1000 unaccompanied minors, among 600 of them are living without any protection or shelter). The following day, my bag was full of Post-Trauma Stabilizer formula. I, and many people, went through fear and stress that night. I was feeling as though we were facing an after-war zone... I was giving emotional support to my refugee team and most of the vulnerable cases. At the clinic, we are not only giving optometry and ophthalmology services, but also emotional support with flower essences and TTT (Trauma Tapping Technique ) with wonderful results.
We are striving to give light to their eyes, light to their hearts and hope, as you can see in the pictures. We treat at the clinic very vulnerable cases, such as blind people, men (mainly Africans) victims of torture, women and men who have been sexually abused, orphans (from war in Syria), unaccompanied minors, elderly refugees that came alone, people who have lost everything...even the hope for humanity. Flowers essences combined with the love and care that we give helps them to recover the hope, relief from trauma, depression, deep sadness, miracles that I have never seen before…and helps them to continue with strength despite the daily challenges they are facing.
From time to time I offer workshops with clowns (for children and staff), sound therapy, TTT and yoga for accompanied minors. Little by little, we’re trying to change the vibration at the camp...
Recently, a friend offered for me to join a project in Syria at the border with Turkey, which was a school project for orphans from the war. I am planning to bring my flower essence kits for the children and spread light and hope for the orphans and everyone in need.
Sometimes the days are difficult, the feeling of giving up arises, but when I see that I can help even one person I recover the strength and hope...I found my LIFE MISSION. I have never been so happy! My deepest gratitude for your support to my project in Greece and for your service to Humanity! Your efforts and love are making a big difference in the lives of thousands of refugees. |
