The Case of "Mr. Redwood"

by Rosana Souto

My son André came into the world despite a high-risk pregnancy. My doctor had recommended no further pregnancies, otherwise  risk death for both mother and child. Prior to that, I had given birth to two healthy girls but I had lost a third child due to a severe disease that had caused damage to my uterus.

The doctors had recommended contraceptives to prevent another possible pregnancy, but André was conceived despite the use of contraceptives. The announcement of my pregnancy was a shock for the whole family. No one believed it would be possible for the baby to survive, and they also feared for my life. However, I did not believe that abortion was the moral choice for me, and I felt I must stay with my pregnancy and trust the outcome.

The pregnancy was very difficult and there were several times when I faced the threat of miscarriage. I needed to spend most of the pregnancy in complete rest. Despite these severe physical challenges, I felt a deep spiritual bond with my child. I received inner pictures and guidance that reassured me about the well-being of my child. I knew I would give birth to a boy.

André was born by Cesarean section at the estimated due date. He was born under the star of Aquarius, and was very healthy.  In fact, he was the biggest baby of the hospital, weighing 4,300 g (approximately 9.5 lb) and measuring 53 cm (20.8 in) long. From the very beginning, André showed great independence. He slept by himself and did not require breast milk past three months. He grew up being a smiling, active and happy child. He loved to be with his friends. He had no problem in adapting to schools, even when traveling abroad.

During his childhood, flower essences were used to help him from time to time with emotional or physical imbalances. The part of his case I would like to emphasize in this report concerns his use of Redwood flower essence.

In 2001 he began puberty, along with all the challenges of that sensitive time. He required knee surgery due to an accident playing soccer. The family discovered then that he had a genetic disease that affects the red corpuscles of his blood. This disease is called Minor Talassemia , an anemia commonly found in populations of Mediterranean descent.

In the middle of 2001, a doctor informed André that he would not be able to grow according to the average curve. The maximum he could expect to reach would be 1,75 m (5.7 feet). This news came as a devastating shock to him. His great dream was to play volleyball professionally, and he was very good in this sport. He had already been invited to take part in the city team for teenagers. However, those who excel in volleyball must be of good stature, around 1,90 m (6.2 ft). André now realized that he had no chance to reach that height. He kept training in volleyball, but his dream had vanished. He decided also to start learning tennis, though this sport was not so compelling for him.

At that time I had heard Dr. Kátia Kuchler, a medical doctor who practiced in São Paulo, Brazil, present several cases involving the Redwood and Almond flower essences for health issues involving growth. In addition, searching in Flower Essences and Vibrational Healing , I found information indicating that Redwood may have beneficial effects on red corpuscles and some types of anemia. I believed that Redwood flower essence would be helpful for André and would also keep him more aligned and connected to his peer group. So, in February, 2002, Redwood and Almond flower essences were prepared for Andre's formula.

In November 2002, Patricia Kaminski, FES director and researcher, was scheduled to give a lecture in André's home city, and so she had the opportunity to meet him. Although André was about 1,78 m (5.8 ft) at that time, Patricia felt his stature on the soul level. She had no knowledge of his health history, or that he was taking Redwood flower essence, yet she repeated several times, "He is so tall."

Then during her lecture, Patricia introduced the work of the Flower Essence Society , and her great devotion to John Muir. She showed slides of the sacred places John Muir had helped to preserve, and especially the wonderful and majestic images of the great Redwoods. Spontaneously, she again made reference to André, who was in the audience. She called him Mr. Redwood , as though he belonged to that family of giant trees. It was as though she could feel the Redwood energy emanating through his body and soul, and that's why he looked taller to her.

André is now 1,80 m (5.9 ft), five cm (1.9 in) taller than the doctor's maximum prediction. By the end of 2004, his blood test showed red corpuscle rates significantly better than the ones of the previous years. After a period of intense dedication to his studies, he has entered the university of his dreams. He is very comfortable with his height, and recently he has been invited to join the university volleyball team because of his strategic skills. Flower remedies are part of his life and victories, but for those who know his inner soul, he will always be Mr. Redwood.
