The wisdom contained within the Mariposa Lily flower essence reveals a universal wealth of possibilities within the inner human being and within the whole of flower essence therapy. When we use the Mariposa Lily, we are helping the human individuality discover answers to many pathologies and basic conflicts. One of these prime areas is that of addiction therapy .

Mariposa Lily Calochortus leichtlinii

I have used flower essences for addicted patients for many years, with results that were very encouraging from the beginning. However, in my clinical experience, the specific addition of Mariposa Lily has made a significant difference.

For example, a young man of 30 was severely addicted to "speed" and cocaine. Upon taking Mariposa Lily, he could endure the period of abstinence from these drugs. During his recovery, he was stronger in resisting the urge to return to his former drug use. After one year, relapses have been minimal. He commented, "These drops have made me feel better and much more able to deal with my illness." Even now, after many months, he continues to take Mariposa Lily.

I have used this flower for a wide spectrum of addictions, including tobacco, sweets, and many kinds of food. A peculiar case involved a woman patient who had taken essences for a long time. She was addicted to Coca Cola®, and when she began taking Mariposa Lily, she did not feel the need to use this soft drink any more.

Addiction can be understood as a destructive relationship that binds us and from which we cannot break free. The object of one's addiction becomes a substitute for a lack of essential love and nurturing. From this perspective, it is possible to understand the healing dynamics of Mariposa Lily. This flower has within its primary pattern enormous potential to restore wounds of rejection, abandonment, helplessness, and insecurity. It addresses the basic archetype of the mother within the soul as the original source of nourishment.

I have frequently observed that within the first weeks of treatment, it is common for patients to have dreams or memories about events related to the mother figure. Clients explore memories about nutrition, protection, or maternal love. This essence appears to open the unconscious"blind spots" of childhood.

Flower essence therapist and teacher Eduardo H. Grecco notes that "Everything that is not remembered is repeated, everything that is not spoken is acted." This psychological truth explains how an addictive behavior is frequently an attempt to calm a deep sensation of unmet love or nourishment.

Even when results are not as swift as we might wish, we can always observe gradual and stable changes when we treat addictive behavior through flower essence therapy. Particularly with Mariposa Lily, one is able to dive deeply into the foundation of the personality, where the soul cause of disease manifests.
